Target Company Lists

To prepare for a job search, you can prepare targeted company lists using various resources at Walker Management Library:

OneSource Use the Build a List option under the Company areas. You can narrow your search by Geography (down to the U.S. Metropolitan level,) industry code, size of company (sales, employees, and assets) as well as additional criteria. OneSource has the ability to download your results into Excel.

Hoover's Use the Build a List option from the Hoover's homepage. You can narrow your search by location, company size, industry and additional criteria. Unfortunately, Hoover's results are not downloadable.

Use the Book of Lists for major US cities in the reference book section. (Walker Management Library Call Number Reference HF 5068.)  These are city specific guides to local companies.  You can get additional local company news from their website www.bizjournals.com.

For international company information, OneSource and Hoover's may contain useful data. However, the following databases are specific to international company research:

Going Global  Includes world-wide job and internship listings, industry, country and city profiles, and, country-specific career information. Find information on: work permit/visa regulations, resume writing, employment trends, salary ranges, networking groups, cultural/interviewing advice, corporate profiles, and a global chat feature.

Uniworld Find U.S. corporations with operations in other countries as well as firms based in other countries with locations in the United States.  Includes 190 countries and 130,000 companies. It is searchable by: region, country, state, keyword, industry type, revenue, number of employees and zip code. Can be exported into Excel.
